Union Lodge No. 7 Names Mark Ferrandino as 2024 Person of the Year for Outstanding Public Service

Denver, Colorado November 15, 2024 – Union Lodge No. 7, A.F. & A.M., Denver’s premier Masonic Lodge, is proud to announce the selection of Mark Ferrandino as its Person of the Year for 2024. Mark, a distinguished Civil Servant with years of service to his fellow citizens throughout Denver and Colorado, has been recognized for his outstanding contributions.

        Details: Members of Union Lodge No. 7, A.F. & A.M. annually nominate, review and select a Person of the Year, usually based on their service to the greater community.

"We are thrilled to name Mark as our Person of the Year," Chris Hochmuth, Master of the Union Lodge No. 7, said. "Mark represents a distinguished Civil Servant with years of service to his fellow citizens throughout Denver and Colorado in various capacities."

Mark Ferrandino is the Director of the Office of State Planning and Budgeting (OPSB).  As such, he is responsible for submitting the Governor’s budget, quarterly economic forecasts and working with the Legislature on fiscal issues.  Prior to OPSB, Mark was the Executive Director of the Department of Revenue (DOR), which he joined in 2020.

He attended the University of Rochester, earning his bachelor’s degree in political science and economics in 1999 and a master’s in public policy analysis in 2000. Mark then worked as a policy analyst for the White House Office of Management and Budget in Washington, D.C.

After relocating to Colorado, he worked as a program analyst for the U.S. Department of Justice. He then served as the senior budget analyst for the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing until 2007 before his appointment to the Colorado House of Representatives. While in the legislature, he was elected Speaker of the House by his peers and served in that role from 2013-14.

After serving in the legislature, he joined Denver Public Schools as Chief Financial Officer before transitioning into the role of Deputy Superintendent of Operations. Mark led several of the district's largest departments in this role.

This service aligns with many of Masonry's goals and objectives, including building communities, developing character, contributing positively to society, respect, exploring morality, and service.
